Photo spots Hamburg

There is so much to discover in Hamburg. Lots of postcard motifs are waiting for you to capture them in a picture. Let yourself be enchanted by the different lighting moods in the city. Here you will find a selection of our favorite photo spots in Hamburg.

Our favorite photo spots in Hamburg

Blick auf das Treppenviertel in Hamburg Blankenese und die Elbe.

The staircase district

The staircase district in Blankenese is a unique motif. And no matter how many times you have wandered through the small alleyways, you will discover and love new details every time! The steep path offers the perfect overview of the entire district and shows off the unique architecture of the villas and maritime fishermen's cottages. Take some time to stroll through the small alleyways. It is best to start at the top of the staircase district and choose a relaxed descent.
Elbstrand in Hamburg

The Elbe beach

Regardless of whether the sun is shining or it's "Hamburg's bad weather" - the Elbstand is simply always worth a photo. In summer you can capture the best motifs barefoot and in winter you can trudge through the cool water in rubber boots. The location is particularly popular with ship lovers, as the large container giants seem to float on the water here. If you want to go on a little discovery tour, you will also find beautiful lighthouses on the banks of the Elbe that make the perfect maritime photo album.
Die Lindenterrase des Hotels Louis C. Jacob bei Sonnenuntergang.

The Lindenterrasse

One of our absolute favorites, of course! the legendary Lindenterrasse was laid out in 1791 by the landscape gardener and namesake of our hotel, Louis Jacob, and has inspired more than just the famous artist Max Liebermann ever since. The sunset is of course a highlight. As the sun slowly sinks into the Elbe, you will experience a magical moment of light under the protective canopy of lime trees. You will find this photo spot at the Louis C. Jacob on the Elbchaussee.
Blick über eine Wiese auf das klassizistische Jenisch-Haus eingerahmt von Bäumen im Jenischpark in Hamburg.

The Jenischpark

The next highlight follows along the Elbchaussee. The 24-hectare Jenischpark in Hamburg's Othmarschen district makes the hearts of all nature lovers beat faster and surprises many a guest, because despite its size, Hamburg is the city of trees. Here you will find plenty of space for nature shots and relaxation from the hustle and bustle of the city. The neo-classical Jenisch House, which was built between 1831 and 1834, is a magnificent piece of history and is still the jewel in the park's crown today.
Blick von der Elbe aus auf den Hafen Hamburg, die Landungsbrücken und den Michel.

The heart of Hamburg

Landungsbrücken, Speicherstadt and HafenCity! Here, one photo opportunity follows the next. Start at the Landungsbrücken, then head for the Elbphilharmonie concert hall through the futuristic HafenCity and finish your photo walk in the Speicherstadt. Contrasting architecture awaits you, which harmonizes amazingly well and creates a unique, characteristic cityscape.
"I love this city with its barely concealed Anglicisms in form and gestures, with its ceremonial pride in tradition, its commercial pragmatism and its endearing provinciality."
