Wedel Marsh
Discover the Wedel marsh. From the Hetlinger Schanze, you can walk almost endlessly along the dyke and enjoy an almost unlimited view over the Elbe and the marshes.

Hetlinger ski jump
Incidentally, the Hetlinger Schanze itself is a historic site. In the 17th century, the Danish King Christian V commissioned the construction of a field entrenchment with four bulwarks. The redoubt lost its importance in the 18th century. From Hetlingen, you reach the pretty village of Haseldorf with its pretty thatched cottages nestled against the dyke. The route via the Eckhorst road and the Hetlingen dyke is wonderfully idyllic! The right area for a real country trip.

Haseldorf orchard
From July to November, the Haseldorf orchard is all about a warm welcome and bon appétit! Take a stroll through the orchard and enjoy - and discover fruit varieties that have almost been forgotten elsewhere. As one of the largest publicly accessible collections of old fruit varieties, the garden is home to 180 old, local fruit varieties of apples, plums and pears that are no longer on the market. The garden is signposted at Haseldorfer Hafen and is freely accessible at all times.

Willkommhöft
Since 1952, all ships entering and leaving the Port of Hamburg have been greeted and bid farewell at the Willkommhöft ship greeting facility by lowering the Hamburg flag and hoisting the international flag signal for "Gute Reise" with the letters "U" and "W". Between 8 a.m. and sunset (or 8 p.m.), the national anthem of the respective home country is also played for ships over 1000 gross tons leaving German waters. A little refreshment in the Schulauer Fährhaus gives you a taste of the wide world.
Bird watching
NABU Bird Station Wedeler Marsch
Another special place in the Wedel Marsh is the NABU bird station - a quiet place for observing nature and making quiet discoveries. In the middle of vast meadows and shallow water zones, geese, lapwings, waders and many other migratory birds can be observed here depending on the season. A simple wooden pavilion invites you to linger and offers a sheltered view of the open landscape - a wonderful destination for nature-loving excursions away from the city.
