Vacation in the port city

Our Hanseatic city on the Elbe offers a colorful bouquet of great vacation experiences for your travel photo album. Because Hamburg is incredibly diverse and offers more than just the typical city vacation - if you take your time, you can explore the most beautiful corners of our city by bike, on the water or simply on foot. There is a lot to discover!

The Speicherstadt

This World Heritage Site is firmly anchored in the city's history and is always a very special photo opportunity for our guests as the sun sets. The historic buildings were once warehouses for coffee, tea, carpets and goods from all over the world. Today, in addition to many office spaces, the Speicherstadt is home to Miniatur Wunderland, the Hamburg Dungeon and many interesting museums.

Elbphilharmonie
With its modern architecture, Hamburg's most famous landmark blends in extremely well with the red-brick warehouse development and the futuristic HafenCity. The Elbphilharmonie offers plenty of space for a relaxing stay and an incomparable view. The concert hall's program includes many exciting music highlights that you should not miss on your next visit.
Planten un Bloomen
Hamburg's green lung invites you to take long walks through the colorful parks and is also a haven of peace and a time-out for many Hamburg residents. In the rose garden you can admire up to 300 varieties of roses and the lush ponds in the middle of the park offer plenty of places to sit and take a deep breath.
ELBE, ALSTER and Co.
Hamburg is almost as easy to explore by water as it is by bike or on foot. There are many opportunities for special round trips on the Elbe, the Alster or the canals of the Speicherstadt. We particularly recommend a round trip on the Elbe with our own MS Jacob or a lights tour through the container port at dusk.
Blankenese
The Treppenviertel in Blankenese, located directly on the Elbe, offers you a completely different Hamburg feeling. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, you will experience small alleyways and a village atmosphere right down to the Elbe beach. But Blankenese doesn't just offer the Treppenviertel - in the small district center you will find charming little stores for your individual shopping spree.
Michel
The Michel
Alongside the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, the Michel is another well-known Hamburg landmark. The nave with its five organs, the vaulted cellar and the viewing platform on the church tower are particularly worth seeing. You can see the 132-metre-high church tower from many angles in the city center. The baroque church is one of the most beautiful churches in northern Germany and, with its 2,500 seats, is the largest church in Hamburg.

Cycling vacation on the Elbe

Get on your bike, start pedaling and discover the Hanseatic city and the surrounding area on two wheels. Whether sightseeing in Hamburg or an excursion into the surrounding countryside - there are many great tours with lots to experience.

Jacob's little cycling vacation

A total of 14 cycle routes form the heart of Hamburg's urban transportation system. They connect individual cycle paths to form a seamless network and ensure unlimited cycling pleasure in Hamburg's urban area. Would you like to take a bike tour into the countryside? Then explore the Alte Land on the other side of the Elbe by bike or the Wedeler and Haseldorfer Marsch with their marsh meadows and alluvial forests. Which route will you choose?

On two wheels through Hamburg

INto the old country
Take the ferry to the other bank of the Elbe and enter Europe's largest fruit-growing region. From the dyke paths, you can enjoy great views of picturesque Blankenese. On your cycle tour, you will pass numerous farm stores and farm cafés that invite you to browse and feast. The "fruit route" takes you past cherry and apple trees to the Hanseatic town of Stade and the fairytale town of Buxtehude.
Up the Elbe
Pass the Teufelsbrück and Övelgönne ferry terminals and continue along the banks of the Elbe. The route continues - via the Altona cruise terminal and the fish market with the fish auction hall - in the direction of the Old Elbe Tunnel and the Landungsbrücken. From here you can already see the outline of the impressive Elbphilharmonie concert hall. Whether your destination is HafenCity or Speicherstadt, there is plenty to discover here.
down the Elbe
A very popular tour takes you along the banks of the Elbe all the way to Wedel. You will pass the Hirschpark and the famous Blankeneser Treppenviertel. After passing the Roman Garden, the route continues to Wittenbergen beach. Here you can take a short break or continue cycling to the Willkomm-Höft ship welcome facility.
